Facebook and red bull are teaming up to get people outside into the fresh air, to get people away from their computer screens, for just one day.

 

Red bull wants people to join in and seek adventure, to challenge themseleves outside of the electronic world.

 

Facebook is a platform that allows us to share our memories and moments with our friends, but we want people to go outside and create these moments. The day Facebook 'shuts down', people will be encouraged to go on adventures and do things they dont normally do. Red bull will be leading this marketting idea; with facebook following it up the next day.

Facebook has agreed to disturb people's facebook experience for a day, the users can sign up to agree which means their facebook account will not work on the day. Or if people choose not to agree their facebook will be filled with outdoor images constantly falling down the screen, causing a distraction and pursuading them to join in.

The search bar at the top will be changed to 'Search outdoors' and the 'home' button will be changed to 'garden'. The benefit of this for facebook is that the following day all of the users that participated will be able to share their adventures to facebook and tell all their friends, creating a mass wave of increased users for facebook, and large online chatter about everyones experiences the previous day; influenced by Red Bull #faceadventure.
